NoiseTracker - Mar 2022
A noise level indicator that does its job in a bright manner !
DESCRIPTION
One of the schools I went to had a relaxation room.
This place was used by students for eating during lunch breaks and for playing games during other breaks.
As you may have guessed, this place would get pretty noisy. That is how this idea sparked into life.
We had a group project at that time; it was on the topic of connected items. I did not really have any other idea, so I used this as a pretext for making this thing.
I designed the hardware, the electronics, and the chassis; one of my peers made the software.
This uses an esp8266 vith a wire soldered directly to the QFN package for adding analog to the board because doing so meant not having to order an ADC and fuck the guy who decided not to route thie pin …
One board is just an amplifier for the microphone signal and the other board is the power and microcontroller stuff. I don’t think I even made a schematic for this, sorry not sorry.
LOOK AT THOSE CABLES. GET BRAIDED M8 !
This thing not only displays the current noise level on an arbitrary scale; it only sends multiple values using a LoRa module.
The LoRa part is just a gimmick we had to implement for the connected object part; I am not even sure of what data it sends.
This feels like a fraud in the context of the connected object course, but it looks kinda cool, and it is proudly displayed and used in the school.
